Describe how a specific skill you acquired in high school was valuable in your externship. How did you learn that skill? How were you able to use it? Or perhaps was there is a skill you needed but didn't have. How did you deal with that? How has your externship been similar to AND different from projects you've done in high school?
One thing that learned from High Tech is communion not only with those I know but also with those I don’t, that really did helped me this past week, also in the weeks to come having the new student welcoming (1 that just passed, 2 more to come) and banquet I really have to be able to speak to many people in a comfortable and semi professional way and this school has really help me with that. I think the collaboration with people in projects is the most similar because well we collaborate with people with people in every project even if it is a solo project and we would have not been able to do as much work as we have done without us helping each other out. What are some challenges that you have encountered and what are the steps you have taken to address and overcome those challenges? How have your mentor and your co-workers supported you in your growth in skills and knowledge?
For the first two days of this week I was working on some documents and flyers, along with other different little tasks for the incoming freshmen, when I finished that Marlene and Hilary asked me if I could help them with the certificates for the spring sports banquet . Which was very difficult for me in the beginning just because I was not there when Law explained how to do but luckily I had help from both the other interns and Laws which let me pick it up pretty quickly. Below are some picture of the vineyard we spent a couple days at this week. Describe your project or internship. What are you excited about? Nervous about? My externship is at High Tech High Media Arts (the one with all the stairs), my mentor is Michal-Lynn O’Kelly but I’m also working this with three other interns. Which is something I’m really looking forward to since when all friends and also because with my internship I wasn’t working with anyone my age so this is going to be so different. We usually start our day at 8:30-9:00 where we go to ML’s office and work on various different jobs that she put on our To Do List. Though there’s definitely enough to do I won’t say that they anything that I’m nervous about especially since I’m pretty comfortable with everyone I’m working with. Describe a new skill or new knowledge that you acquired this week while in externship. This week there was really not much to be learned from many seeing as this week was mostly focused on organizing all the returned jerseys. This mainly was trying to figure out if jerseys were varsity, jv, ect., putting everything in to a computer making sure that all were turned in, along with washing half of all the jersey because some people decide to just not wash it and it ends up sinking up the bin. So though this may have not been the most meaningful it hopefully was the most tedious. |
