For my internship project what went well was that I was able to make it that my mentor had a set up social media accounts that her post were predated so that she didn’t have to touch it for the next three months but there would still be activity on her account. What I could have done better on for like the the twitter post it only allows for 140 characters and I didn’t take that into consideration when write the tweets so it took more for me trying to shorten them then for me to actually write the tweets.
Interns should really chose something that they might like cause you don’t want to be somewhere that you don’t like I mean it’s still a great learning opportunity you learn you never want to do that and little things that you might have not found out until it was too late. But I like a big thing when it comes to internship, or at least mine; internship is communication you first call or email, then meet then if they like you take you in as an intern. But throughout that whole process you need to be able to talk to people and make connections so that you can get an internship.
I don’t it’s inspired me because what inspired me to do this internship was the mayor that I wanted to study in college. But it did help me clear up some ideas. It help with colleges because I got to hear different experiences at colleges with some of the best programs and some colleges with other great programs.
I really thankful for my mentor because she was just so amazing she taught me so much to do with the body, the working life, and business sells. I’m also thankful for the other PT’s and Lesley and Ashley for making me feel so welcome.
What I see around my internship site a lot is the fact that there still willing to learn, I see that my mentor is always going to continuing education class which let her stay on top of all the new things that are coming out and so that she can offer the care that she believes patients should be receiving. The other thing that I see a lot in the office is that everyone really care and is so understanding, I came it to the office one day and one of the patients said “there is just such a good vibe in here, you just don’t get that at other offices”.
I planning to have a point of reference but I’m to have it memorized so that the only thing that I write on my note card are bullet points. I don’t really think that I have to prepare that much for questions in this presentation just because it’s about my experiences and so it’s not like I have to do much outside research. I learned that an internship day is much more trying than a school day.
I don’t think I have learned anything too new with communication and advocacy just because I think that I was already had that and it helps me that everyone in the office is pretty open and they communicate pretty well amongst themselves so it kinda just worked were they would just tell me everything and I didn’t have to worry much.
I feel pretty good about my project, so far it is about a little more than halfway done. Now what I have to do is find a website that will allow me to upload and pre scheduled post so that they will automatically upload even when I’m not here.
What I’m doing for this project is creating a timeline for the different social media sites that they have, I’ve created a schedule so that I know what to post and when to post it. I looked at different social medias that belong to other physical therapy sites and some yoga ones to get some inspiration, what I came up with was Monday’s will be quote day, Wednesday will be a yoga pose or yoga helper/guide, and Friday is just something to do with both. I think the biggest change from school school to internship would be how tried I’m at the end of the day, I feel as though I do more at school but then I go home from internship and I’m exhausted. Then again my days are longer and it more on my body cause I’m doing exercises with patients whereas in school I’m just sitting and doing the work that the teacher tells me to do. Also I have a lot more responsibilities like showing up on time, I’m not the most punctual person and this really pushed me to do that. But I don’t think that will really carry over to school.
