My Life Now
Moving and being the new kid is no fun. I’ve moved so many times that I’ve lost count. Riding in this car thinking about what life is going to be like now it's something I had hoped I wouldn’t have seen again but here we are. In yet another town, is hopefully this place will be better than the last.
“ Bella Bella are you listening to me?” my mom said, breaking into my thoughts.
“ What yea” I replied
“What did I say?”
“What? I said I heard you.”
“Look, I know you didn’t want to move but, just because you didn’t get what you want doesn’t mean you have to give me attitude” my mom said with a scowl.
“Yea, whatever.” I turned and looked out the window.
I knew she was going to want to say something else, but before she could I quickly put in headphones blasting music making sure she knew I was ignoring her. She let out a sigh and kept driving. Not knowing how much longer I would have to be in this trap, I leaned back in my chair, letting the darkness take over.
Awakening to the sound of doors slamming is unpleasant. What is even happening? It’s most likely my little brother having to pee again. The kid has a bladder of a cat that just drank a gallon of milk. I put up my chair, might as well stretch. When I looked outside I didn’t see the usual gas station. Instead it was a beautiful welcoming yellow suburban house. Stairs that lead to a porch that connects to the door. This is the new life I will be living. Where new memories will be made just to be forgotten when we move again. My mother calling my name had taken me out of my train of thought.
“Bella come on, we don’t have all day”
“Yea, coming”
With that I went to the back of the car and grabbed a box. Having done this so many times I didn’t have much, just a couple of half- filled crates. When I went in the house to look around, I saw some boxes here and there. The movers had already put the furniture in, it was just a matter of putting it where my mother wanted.
“Your room is upstairs take a right, last door on your left" my mother said. I went upstairs to see my new room. I guess you can say the room is interesting. Well, more like plain it had all white walls, a wooden floor, there were to double doors on the farthest wall to me.I was excited to see what kind of a view I would have from my new, well I guess you can call it porch. When I open the doors I'm gazing at the sky. Since my room was facing west and the sun was starting to set the I vibrant colors filled the sky with life. With clouds that make you wish one day you can jump on them. This right here it's one of those times you just had a camera, so you could snap a picture. Being able to remember this moment forever. Looking at something other than the sky that can put you in a daze. I see a picket fence surrounding one of the biggest backyards we had ever had. I could just imagine the life we would have if I would have lived here my whole life. Everything would be so different I wouldn’t always be fighting with my mom. I probably still have that drunk that my mom made me call “dad” around. Plus I would probably like my brother more.
I always thought that would happen when I was little. My mother would find her prince charming and he would be the person I call “dad”. We would live the life that would be played on T.V. We would be picture perfect. I awakened from my dream and I knew it would never happen in real life. Without even realizing the sun had set, and my stomach was roaring with hunger. I went inside to see what was for dinner. When I came down the stairs, I saw my mom and brother, eating take out on what we call our dinner table. In other words, the top of our table on some boxes. I really didn’t care why they didn’t call. I just wanted my food.
I got a paper plate from the bag, got some food, then went back to my new room. I wanted to sit outside again, so I went through a couple of boxes looking for a blanket. Since I knew it was going to be cold outside, I sat there in a daze thinking. Of what, not really sure. Just whatever came to mind.
I opened my eyes, not even aware that they were closed. I saw the glistening sun peeking above the mountain. I was confused by what was happening when I realized it already morning. I got up to find that my butt hurting. I held the blanket even closer, when I felt a gust of air that shocked my body sending my hair flying up. I went inside, to surprise my nose met the smell of fresh made pancakes. My mom hadn’t made pancakes since my dad left. You see, my dad and mom used to make pancakes together every sunday. I go downstairs to see what had put my mom in such a good mood and that’s when I saw my “DAD”.
